Maryann has also been an early childhood educator for over 25 years, and
becoming a storyteller was a natural extension of this. She read books aloud
to her classes so often that she knew them by heart. She noticed that more
and more, the children were looking at her face rather than the book's illustrations.
One day, she put the book down and told the story instead. Magic! The children
loved it, and so did she!
She is a now a member of the "Lehigh Valley Storytelling Guild",
"The Princeton Storytelling Circle" and the "National Storytelling
Network" and is continuously learning new stories and improving her skills.
She learns so much from hearing other storytellers and highly recommends going
to hear as many as you can!
MaryAnn has a knack for finding unusual stories that you may never come across
yourself. Her repertoire includes over a hundred stories for children, teens,
and adult audiences. She has performed in schools, libraries, senior centers,
hospitals, private parties, bonfires, festivals, colleges, for the women of
the United Nations in NYC, and even in the swamps of the Meadowlands! (She
especially loves to tell spooky stories).
She is currently teaching Kindergarten and telling stories everyday in Hunterdon
County, NJ. She frequently travels around with her pet hedgehog named, "Humphrey".
